The Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1994. It plays a vital role in preserving local cultural and historical heritage by promoting performing, literary, and visual arts and sciences.
The SCAC offers sponsorships, fundraising events, a grants program, a county-wide arts and cultural map, and community-based arts programs. It also uses social media to share arts and culture-related announcements in Seminole County and Central Florida. The mission of the SCAC is to serve, support, and nurture the cultural and artistic needs of the residents of Seminole County. Additionally, it aims to sustain, develop, and advance the cultural life of the community.
In May 1995, the Seminole County Board of Commissioners designated the SCAC as the official recipient of specialty Florida State of the ARTS license plate funds. With this and other funding, the SCAC provides grants to arts and cultural organizations, individual artists, and the community.
